Geography



The municipality of Tboli is located in the hinterlands, on the southwestern portion of the province of South Cotabato. With rugged terrain, and high slopes atop the mountain ranges, it is home for the many cultural tribes of the lumads of Mindanao's northern boundary. Its boundaries are:



North - Municipalities of Surallah, Banga and Tupi


South - Municipality of Polomolok and General Santos City


East - Municipalities of Maasim and Kiamba, Sarangani Province


West - Municipality of Lake Sebu



Land Area


Tboli has a total land area of 91,527 hectares, the biggest municipality in the province. It is divided into 25 barangays. Laconon is the biggest barangay occupying 15,414 hectares and Talcon is the smallest occupying only 788 hectares of the total land area.

Climate

The climate in the area falls under the fourth type which is characterized by no distinct dry season with a very pronounced rainfall from later part of June to the early part of November with the heaviest downpour occuring in October. Although rain is evenly distributed throughout the year, dry month comes from March up to May. March, however, is the driest month ever recorded.

Topography

The topographic features of the area is generally hilly wherein 92.6% of the total land area is hilly, rolling, steep and very undulatin terrain characterized by low lands in the northern portion, 0.33% are water bodies. These flat slopes include plateaus and valleys in the highlands. Topographic elevation in the low land is about 360-550 masl., highland ranges from 550-2065 masl.
